June 1, 2012 - Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium
Wildlife lovers from across Pittsburgh and beyond visited the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium for a night of wining, dining, dancing, entertainment, & up-close encounters with the animals.
"The Adventure" began with a little rain that evening, but that soon disappeared as guests started to arrive.
Tents were erected around the many vendor tents to keep the rain out, which kept many underneath cover for the first portion of the night.
An American Alligator greeted guests as they entered the zoo. He was very friendly for an alligator.
Featured here is Dr. Barbara Baker (third), President & CEO of Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.
The animals were very excited to have so many well-dressed visitors!
The many vendors were very happy to support the zoo!
Tons of superb food sampling selections!
Root beer floats. Mmmmmm.
One of the newest innovations in dessert, featured by Service Systems Associates. "Liquid Nitrogen Reverse Deep Fried Ice Cream." They dip a little ice cream cone into liquid nitrogen to instantly freeze it, which requires full protective gear.
Salted Caramel is pretty delicious, I must say!
Other flavors include Chocolate Orange, Strawberry Basil, and Maple Bacon.
Corey O'Connor, District 5 City Councilman son of the late Mayor Bob O'Connor, enjoyed his time at the zoo with his new fiance Katie Stohlberg.
The dance floor was bumpin' at the final stop for the evening under the PNC Pavilion, with "DJ Ravidrums."
He literally played drums to the songs while DJing. Pretty sweet.
The Zoo Gala has proven to be the most exciting event of the summer! See you all for the next Zoo Gala in 2014!
