ONE Whirl Yoga Fest 2012

Saturday, July 28, 2012 - Point State Park, Pittsburgh, PA

Yoga is happening everywhere in Pittsburgh these days, and Whirl Magazine thought it was time to bring all of us together for the first ever ONE Whirl Yoga Fest + Healthy Lifestyle Expo at Point State Park.

Yoga classes and workshops began at sunrise, AKA 6 a.m.

IMG_4696 IMG_5447 Five different tents hosted the participants of classes and workshops, each named for popular yoga poses.

IMG_4717 Basic meditation was also included for those who wanted more of a mental challenge. With the construction noises everywhere, this wasn't easy.

IMG_5095 Some classes were so popular that participants' mats extended beyond their designated tent, but that didn't slow anyone down.

ZEB'S POSES OF THE DAY

I kept an eye on Zeb Homison, of Bikram Yoga Pittsburgh, throughout the event and caught him in some unbelievable poses. He recently won the silver medal at the 2012 USA Yoga Asana Championship. It's an honor to have him as part of our yoga community.

YogaFest_Combo1 IMG_5268 Jim Donovan, founding and former member of Rusted Root, hosted a Drum Chant & Energy Workshop, in which participants were given drums and asked to mimic his rhythmic pattern of drumming.

IMG_5357 IMG_5441 Chanting was a big part of it, too. The ancient practice brought members of the yoga community together to activate energy from within.

IMG_5627 IMG_5632 The Power Yoga class, taught by LA Finfinger and Stacey Vespaziani of South Hills Power Yoga, was quite possibly the most attended class of the day.

Meghan Moran of Fitwell Studios taught this upbeat Zumba class in the Wheel Tent.

If photos representing your class or workshop are not pictured, I was probably either in your class doing yoga myself, or in another class at that time. I was able to successfully complete 3 classes on Saturday, but the rest of the time I was shooting photos!
